Tests available in our service laboratory
Celiac disease antibodies -package test includes serum IgA- and IgG -class gliadin (AGA) , IgA- class endomysium (EMA) and IgA- class tissue transglutaminase (tTG) antibodies. All antibody tests can also be asked separately.
Gliadin antibodies are detected by an ELISA method. Endomysium antibodies (IgA and IgG) are detected by indirect immunofluorescence method using human umbilical cord as antigen. Tissue transglutaminase antibodies (IgA and IgG) are detected by an ELISA method.
Statement of the investigation follows (Markku Mäki, MD).
Small bowel biopsy: Immunological markers of celiac disease latency: density of intraepithelial CD3 positive T cells, alpha-beta T cells and gamma-delta T cells. Expression of HLA-DR.
Statement of the investigation follows (Katri Kaukinen MD, Kaija Laurila M.Sc).
Celiac Disease DQ typing
Determination of alleles of DQ2 and DQ8.
Our service laboratory has a long experience of the antibody tests for celiac disease screening. On a routine basis we are performing 8000 serum analyses per year. These tests have been used in several publications since 1984.
SENDING SAMPLES by mail:
Sera (0.5 - 1.0 ml) for antibody tests
can be sent at room temperature.
Small bowel biopsy specimens must be sent in dry ice: The jejunal biopsy
is freshly embedded in optimal cutting temperature (OCT, Miles Inc.,
Elkhart, IN 46515 USA) compound and frozen in liquid nitrogen, sealed in
airtight bag and stored in -70° C before sending.
DQ typing: 5-10 ml EDTA or sitrate whole blood.
For further information, please contact us.
